ABOUT US

Experiences that help you "go deep quick" with others and yourself?
More of That.
Expanding your social circle?
More of that.
Telling your story and learning the stories of others?
MORE OF THAT.

More of that was born from the desire of founders Eric Dybvig and Meredith Baker to bring different groups together and turn events into experiences. We believe that everyone has a story worth telling and the more we learn about each other, the more we learn about ourselves.

At each of our experiences, we make it EASY for you to connect with others and share your story through our signature "GO DEEP QUICK" method. If you're ready to expand your circle and experience a new side of yourself, you've come to the right place.

What we believe

Strangers are friends you haven't met yet

The more we learn about others, the more we learn about ourselves

Everyone has a story worth telling

The playful state is the powerful state

When you choose to be the catalyst, you will help spark change in others and find belonging for yourself

Who are we?

  • Eric Dybvig

Hi! I'm Eric. I'm Indiana born and bred, moved to LA after college, and have lived here for over 8 years now. I love moving my body, learning about new communities, discovering new ways to unlock our minds, and hearing people's stories.

Like so many others, I grew frustrated that in our adult life the majority of our social opportunities (and corporate get-togethers) center around drinking. It's not that drinking is inherently bad; it's just that there were so many other things I wanted to do, but I didn't feel I had the people to do them with or time to do it. And with my own social anxiety, I've never felt at home in a bar. In 2019, when a startup opportunity didn't pan out as I had hoped and romantic relationships had fizzled, I realized I had a lot of friends but still felt super lonely all the time. I needed community.

I recognized that if I feel this way, others must feel this way too. And as a former consultant my first step was to research everything that exists in order to figure out how to build my own. I started to realize that there actually is a lot out there, but sometimes it's hard to see, and you often need someone on your side to 'be the catalyst' to get you there. Along that journey I learned that if you start doing the things you love and inviting people with, you'll end up surrounding yourself with people you love. And I also learned so strongly that the more vulnerable we are, the easier life gets.

It's my mission to create and support environments where people feel they can be present no matter their level of anxiety or extroversion. I've been to pretty much every type of community experience you can imagine and have been hosting my own since the middle of 2019. When I stumbled upon a 1 month sublet with Mer and saw her passion for the same it just made sense to create together!

By trade, I'm business intelligence / data analytics consultant for startups and really enjoy that as well. In my free time you can find me on the trails, out playing tennis, scheming adventures with friends, or out seeing the world.

  • Meredith Baker

Hi! I'm Meredith. I've been immersing myself in new experiences and cultures since I was a brace face growing up in Houston, Texas. Besides John Mayer, there's nothing I love more than getting out of my intellectual, social, and physical comfort zones-and I am passionate about helping others do the same.

In high school and beyond, this looked like cajoling over 20 friends (against their better judgment) to run marathons with me and raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in the process.

In college, this looked like founding a public speaking organization, Harvard Speaks, that hosted monthly events and helped train fellow students in how to tell their story.

As a journalist, I spent college and my twenties living and reporting in Latin America, Europe, and Africa, and learning about different ways different communities connect. I spent summers working in the favelas of Rio, jamming with musicians on the islands of Cape Verde, harvesting palm wine with Liberian farmers, and couch surfing as I performed with the different Sofar Sounds communities across Europe. Each experience helped connect me to an unexpected layer of myself.

When I moved to LA, I coupled my love for community building with my love for storytelling by hosting events that helped people own their story and connect to their playful state.

Eric and I met first as sublet roommates, and then ended up being quarantined together during the pandemic, where we led epic Zoom workouts, dance parties, and stranger-making collaborations. We decided to found More of That because it's our mission to help people connect to their purpose, play, and power.

When I'm not planning cosmic experiences with Eric, I'm a business coach (more at themeredithbaker.com), running marathons, embarking on epic endurance events with friends, and writing poems and songs as I watch the sun set on Venice Beach.
